Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are set to promote their May 2 bout at a press conference at the Nokia Theatre Fifty-two days away from what will be the most profitable fight in boxing history, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will hold a press conference at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, promoting the event. The bout became official on Feb. 20 after more than five years of back-and-forth negotiations, and the sport's biggest stars will meet with media members on Wednesday afternoon for the only time until the week of the fight.

It will be just the second time that the top two boxers in the world have met face-to-face. Their other meeting was also caught on camera, when both Mayweather and Pacquiao attended a Miami Heat game on Jan. 27. After greeting each other courtside, they spoke for over an hour following the game, taking an important step in agreeing to fight each other on May 2.

The recent round of negotiations began almost a year ago, when Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach and CBS Corp. President and CEO Leslie Moonves met in May. Following years of bad blood between Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum and members of Mayweather’s camp, Moonves helped facilitate the agreement that was eventually made.

Moonves also helped Showtime and HBO agree on details for a joint pay-per-view, which needed to be done, since each network has a contract with one of the boxers. Mayweather and Pacquiao will not go on a media tour promoting the fight, as it already has so much buzz surrounding it. The fight could cost as much as $100 on pay-per-vew, and it’s still expected to shatter the all-time PPV buy record.

Even though there won’t be an official media tour, the fight is getting plenty of promotion. Roach continues to hype up the fight, discussing how confident he is that Pacquiao can be the first boxer to defeat Mayweather. Mayweather is the clear betting favorite, but the majority of the public has been putting their money on the Filipino icon.

Recent reports have indicated that both fighters are looking good as they prepare for the biggest bout of their careers. Photographer Chris Robinson told CBSSports.com that Mayweather knocked out one of his sparring partners with a body shot. Roach told RingTV.com that he’s been impressed with Pacquiao’s training, thus far.

According to Showtime Sports Executive Stephen Espinoza, over 600 media outlets have been confirmed for the press conference. It is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. ET, and ESPN will broadcast the event on TV. Viewers can also watch a free live stream online with the link below.

Floyd Mayweather (47-0-0) is the undefeated world champion of five weight classes and holder of the WBC and WBA titles, while Manny Pacquiao (57-5-2) is the reigning WBO welterweight world champion and winner of ten world titles.

Barney Francis, Managing Director of Sky Sports, said the fight has "everything" and is set to be "one of the biggest sports events of the year".
